Student Member Application

Student membership is available for those who are in the process of achieving a specific qualification starting at FHEQ level 4 or above (to include companion animal behaviour. Students must note that to progress to provisional and full membership will require accreditation at FHEQ Level 5 or above. Those studying courses that qualify them below this level will need to top up that qualification. The APBC does not support student members seeing behaviour cases, as they have not completed academic training to the required standard and therefore do not have sufficient knowledge to ensure efficacy, animal welfare standards and due care of the owners seeking help.

Please note that if you are currently practising as a behaviourist, you are NOT eligible for student membership.  However, you are invited to apply for Provisional CAB or ABT.  The APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) route may be appropriate for you at this stage of your educational journey.  Please email info@apbc.org.uk if this applies to you.

Once the form is completed and signed please scan or take a photo of the form and have the digital copy ready. window. Please DO NOT send payment until your membership application has been approved. We will Invoice you the £50 for student membership.

Once we have received your complete application, it will be taken to the next membership committee meeting. This committee meets monthly. So please be aware that, depending on when you submit, it may be 4-5 weeks before you are notified as to the success or otherwise of your application. If you are not successful, we will advise you of what you need to do to become a successful candidate.

Store your name, email address, phone number(s), address, and personal documentation such as academic certificates and transcripts, and your Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB), Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) documents in a secure filing cabinet and office, as well as in electronic form on the APBC computer, Microsoft Cloud and APBC secure website. For the sole purposes of contacting you by email, telephone and by post to deliver information relevant to your APBC membership as per the APBC’s contractual obligation to fulfil your membership of the APBC and to share information about APBC activities. You may terminate your membership or opt out of receiving information about APBC activities at any time. Upon the termination of your membership all your personal details will be deleted/destroyed within 28 days.
