Presenter Bio:

Richard Shawcross is an 8 year qualified Solicitor specialising in Civil Dog Law cases for Cooper & Co Solicitors. Richard has more than 15 years of legal experience, beginning his career working on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills investigating the directors of insolvent companies. He then moved on to gain experience in a wide variety of legal areas helping to run a telephone legal helpline providing general preliminary legal advice on any matter of UK law. Richard began to focus on Court of Protection, Serious Injury and Medical Law and Patient’s Rights (Claimant and Defendant) working for two Top 100 law firms. Richard has had a lifelong passion for dogs starting with his faithful childhood friend, Max, a Jack Russell. Through his teenage years he helped to care for and exercise his elderly neighbour’s dogs and after finishing University he adopted Pippa, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Whippet as he embarked on his legal career. Following a change in family circumstances his legal career has taken a change of direction. He embraced an opportunity to follow his canine passion and established a business providing care services for companion animals in 2017. Whilst working,
Richard undertook courses with IMDT and studied with the Dog Training College. He went on to become a Canine Body Language instructor, Reactive Rascals instructor and certified dog trainer with the DTC. He became a Canicross Instructor with Sporty Paws in 2021 and a Mantrailing UK Instructor in July this year.
